ISSUES • JOBS The government must get out of the way of our small businesses and focus on shaping an environment that promotes business development and the hiring of employees. I support lower business taxes, as well as smart business deregulation to help our businesses prosper and attract other businesses to our House District 17. • TABOR (TAXPAYERS BILL OF RIGHTS) TABOR affirms the right of Coloradoans to determine if a tax increase is warranted or not. No one knows how to spend your tax money better than you. I will fight for TABOR and your right to decide how your taxes are spent. • EDUCATION Education is paramount to the success of Colorado and our country. We must provide the tools to our young people to compete in this global and ever competitive economy. I believe it is vital to adequately fund our educational system and support our hard working teachers, while bringing education to a higher priority in Colorado. • CRIME As a police officer in House District 17 for 23 years and a previous assistant district attorney, I learned the impact of crime on our community. I believe vital services that make our neighborhoods safer must not experience detrimental budget cuts. Furthermore, proven social programs must receive consideration to assist our young citizens in moving away from a path of criminal behavior. • RIGHT TO LIFE I cherish life and believe life starts at conception. I support alternatives to abortion and the promotion of proven education programs that decrease unplanned pregnancies. • Gun Rights (2nd AMENDMENT) I support the right of our law abiding citizens to keep and bear arms to protect themselves and their family. I support safety training and education programs that inform our citizens of the major responsibilities that firearm ownership entails. Furthermore, I will fight for sensible guidelines allowing our law abiding citizens to sustain their right to keep and bear arms, while keeping guns out of the hands of our most violent criminals. • FAMILY As a husband and father, I understand the strength of family values, and the bond and support that only comes from within a family. I support traditional marriage and understand the vital influence that two parents have on raising strong and successful children. |
